Product guide

Save an X/Twitter post in three useful ways.

Use the extension on a supported post detail page, then download Markdown, write the file into an Obsidian folder, or sync the post to Notion.

Before you start

Install and pin X/Twitter Tweet Backup from the Chrome Web Store. The current version supports individual post detail URLs:

Current scope

Timeline, search, bookmark, profile, and bulk-export pages are not supported. Open the individual post before using the extension.

The basic workflow

  1. Open the X/Twitter post you want to keep and wait for the visible content to finish loading.
  2. Select the pinned extension in Chrome. It should identify the active tab as Twitter/X.
  3. Choose the export action. For Notion, connect your workspace first from the extension settings.

The export can include the post text, author and handle, publication time, source URL, export timestamp, and available media references.

Export to Markdown

Use Markdown when you want a portable file with no external account requirement. Select the Markdown export action in the popup. Depending on your export settings, the file is downloaded to Chrome's normal download location or passed to the selected local folder.

Media links are kept when available. A video reference points back to the source post rather than downloading the video file.

Write to an Obsidian folder

Open the extension settings and select a folder inside your Obsidian vault. Chrome asks for directory permission; approve the folder you want the extension to use. Future Markdown exports can be written directly to that location.

Sync to Notion

  1. Open the extension settings and select Connect Notion.
  2. Choose the workspace and authorize the pages requested by the integration.
  3. Return to the supported X/Twitter post, open the popup, and select Sync to Notion.
  4. Keep the popup open until the success state appears, then open the saved page from your X Collections database.

Exported post content is sent to Notion only after you choose the sync action. If the database is missing, archived, or no longer shared with the integration, follow the Notion reauthorization guide.

Troubleshooting

The popup says to open a supported post

Confirm the address contains /status/{id}. Open the individual post rather than a timeline or profile, then reload the page.

The exported content is incomplete

Wait for text and media to finish loading before opening the extension. Reload X/Twitter and retry if the page was partially rendered.

Notion sync fails

Check that Notion is connected and that the authorized X Collections database still exists. Reauthorize the connection if required.

The Obsidian folder is no longer available

Re-select the folder in export settings and approve Chrome's directory permission again.
